John Schofield's Resume

March 5, 2010

You can read my resume in Microsoft Word/Open Office format, Adobe PDF, or (of course) in plain text format.

My goal is easily stated: I want to build beautiful and useful things.

I know computers and technology; business and legal issues; hiring and management. I’m looking for one of two things in my next position:

  1. Something deeply technical where I can raise my skills at Python programming on Linux/Unix/OS X and Windows, and Linux/Unix/OS X system administration, or where I can learn something entirely new. (I’m interested in getting better at C programming on Unix and Unix-like platforms, database administration, and web-apps in general and Ruby in particular, but I’m open to anything exciting and challenging.)
  2. Raising my management skills to the next level by leading larger teams on bigger projects. Management is something you can only really master through doing (although books do help, and I read them voraciously). I’m calm when we find a showstopper bug in the product the day we’re supposed to demo it for the Board of Directors because I’ve been there and done that before; I’m eager to add more experiences and hard-earned wisdom to my arsenal.

Please feel free to contact me if you have something you think I’d be interested in.
